Bowie Presidential Finalists To Visit Campus March 14

The four finalists for the presidency of Bowie State University will visit the campus on March 14.

The finalists are:

Lowe will meet with faculty, students, and staff from 9 to 10:30 a.m.; Walker will be available from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.; Denson will meet the campus from 1 to 2:30 p.m., and Banks will be available from 3 to 4:30 p.m. The meetings will take place in Room 102 of the Wiseman Centre on the Bowie campus.

Bowie's Presidential Search & Screening Committee has forwarded the names of the finalists to the University System of Maryland Board of Regents and USM Chancellor Donald N. Langenberg. The committee is made up of representatives of Bowie State's faculty, staff, and alumni, as well as members of the community. The president is expected to begin by June 1.

Walter J. Leonard, Bowie State's Wilson H. Elkins Visiting Professor, serves as chairman of the committee. Wendell Holloway has been serving as interim president since the resignation of Nathanael Pollard in December 1998. A.T. Kearney, Inc., an executive search firm, has assisted the committee in the nationwide search, which began in September.

Bowie State University is one of three historically black institutions within the 13-member University System of Maryland. The new president will be the ninth in the university's 135-year history.
