to Consider FY 2007 Capital Budget Request

and Long-Term Capital Improvement Needs

ADELPHI, Md. (June 14, 2005) — The Committee on Finance of the University System of Maryland (USM) Board of Regents will consider the system's proposed FY 2007 capital budget totaling $172 million. The committee will discuss the proposal at its meeting scheduled to begin at 10 am Thursday, June 16, at University of Maryland University College (UMUC). The meeting will be in rooms 2103/2105 of UMUC's Inn and Conference Center at the intersection of Adelphi Road and University Boulevard in Adelphi.

Committee members also will review the system's proposed FY 2007-2011 capital improvement program totaling $932.6 million. Individual projects in the five-year plan support system priorities, including enrollment growth, improvements in teaching and learning, and the expansion of research capacity. In addition, the USM capital program addresses the system's major replacement and renovation needs, projects totaling an estimated $1.3 billion.
