USM Regents Committee on Education Policy Meets November 19

Adelphi, Md. (Nov. 14, 2012) -- The University System of Maryland (USM) Board of Regents Committee on Education Policy at its next meeting will vote on a proposed name change for the committee and hear several information items, including a report on the workload of USM faculty.

The meeting is scheduled to begin at 9:30 Monday, November 19, in the Hilda and Michael Bogomolny Room (5th floor) of the Student Center at the University of Baltimore, 21 W. Mt. Royal Avenue, Baltimore, Md.

During discussion at the committee's meeting last month of its role, function, and annual agenda, it was suggested that a name change might more appropriately reflect the committee's responsibilities regarding student life. Inclusion of "student life" in the committee's title would put appropriate focus on the committee's work regarding student perspectives and issues.

In addition to the information item USM faculty workload, the committee will hear from USM chief academic officers regarding foreign language instruction in the USM. Background information and the full agenda are available at http://www.usmd.edu/regents/agendas/ed111912.php.

After the public session, the committee will announce it is reconvening in closed, executive session.

Sign language interpreters and/or appropriate accommodations for eligible individuals with disabilities will be provided upon request. Please call 301.445.1901 (voice) or 301.314.7683 (TTY/ITT) to make special arrangements.
