USM Board of Regents Committees on Finance, Economic Development to Meet Nov. 21

Meetings to be Preceded by Special Meeting of Committee of the Whole

Adelphi, Md. (Nov. 19, 2013) -- The University System of Maryland Board of Regents Committee on Finance and the Committee on Economic Development and Technology Commercialization will hold separate meetings on Thursday, November 21 at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC).

Before those meetings begin, the Board of Regents will meet in public session at 9:30 a.m. in Room 767 of the Albin O. Kuhn Library at UMBC to vote on whether to reconvene in closed session for a special meeting of the committee of the whole. The vote to meet in closed session is consistent with guidelines under the Maryland Open Meetings Act to obtain legal advice.

The Committee on Finance will convene at 10 a.m. in Room 767 of the Albin O. Kuhn Library to vote publicly on reconvening in closed session. The public meeting is scheduled to begin at 10:45 a.m. in the open area of the library 7th floor. The agenda items include a vote on the facilities master plan for the Universities at Shady Grove and the sale of real property to the University of Maryland, College Park Foundation. Information items include Fall 2013 enrollment figures and the capital budget. The Committee on Economic Development and Technology Commercialization will meet in public session at noon in the open area of the library 7th floor. The committee will hear an information item on a featured start-up company, Omni Speech. The group then will vote on whether to reconvene in closed session, to review and discuss items permitted to be discussed in closed session.
