Adelphi, Md. (Oct. 31, 2014) -- The University System of Maryland (USM) Board of Regents Committee on Education Policy and Student Life (EPSL) at its next meeting will vote on a new academic program at Salisbury University and consider information items in conjunction with the Intercollegiate Athletics (ICA) Workgroup.

The meeting will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 4 in the President's Board Room, 14th floor of the Saratoga Building at the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB). The building is located at 220 North Arch Street in Baltimore, Md.

The new academic program at Salisbury University is a M.S. in athletic training. Information items before the committee are reports on opening fall enrollments and the instructional workload of the USM faculty. There will also be an update on the USM sexual misconduct policy.

The NCAA Division I institutions within the USM will each present information items before the Intercollegiate Athletics Workgroup. Those universities are the University of Maryland Eastern Shore; University of Maryland, College Park; Towson University; University of Maryland, Baltimore County; and Coppin State University.

After the public meeting, the committee and workgroup will vote on whether to reconvene in closed session to discuss items that fall under closing guidelines of the Open Meetings Act. Jointly, EPSL and ICA would discuss information about team academic performance indicators and graduation rates that could reveal FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act)-protected information about individual students. The committee and workgroup would also discuss matters concerning specific personnel.
