USM Board of Regents Committee on Education Policy and Student Life Meets November 14; Special Meeting of Board of Regents to Follow

Adelphi, Md. (Nov. 10, 2017) – The University System Board of Regents Committee on Education Policy and Student Life at its next meeting will vote on a new academic program and policy proposal.

The meeting will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 14 in the Chesapeake Ballroom I of the University Union at Towson University.

The new academic program is a M.S. in health and social innovation at the University of Maryland, Baltimore. The new policy proposal concerns the establishment of guidelines at USM campuses for programs to address substance use disorders.

Information items before the committee include the opening fall 2017 enrollment report and new Title IX guidance for USM institutions. The full agenda and supporting materials are here.

At 11:30 a.m., the full Board of Regents will meet publicly to consider two action items. The board will vote on a resolution to acknowledge the outstanding contributions to the board of former regent Thomas Slater, whose term recently expired. The board then will vote publicly on whether to reconvene in closed session to consider items that fall under a category specifically exempted from public consideration under the Open Meetings Act. Those items are a presidential performance review and ongoing litigation.  The agenda is here
