USM Board of Regents to Honor Exceptional Staff; Also to Act on Revenue Bonds for New Academic and Construction Projects

Adelphi, Md. (Sept. 13, 2010) - The University System of Maryland (USM) Board of Regents at its next meeting will honor the 2010 recipients of the Board of Regents Staff Awards. The board also will vote on a proposal to issue USM revenue bonds for new academic and construction projects.

The public meeting is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. Friday, September 17 in Room 767 of the Albin O. Kuhn Library on the campus of the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC). Immediately after the call to order of the public session, the board will meet in closed executive session for approximately 15 minutes.

During the public session, the board also will act on a proposed renovation of the University of Maryland, College Park (UMCP) President's Residence. The renovation, requested by the UMCP Foundation, would be paid for entirely with private funds from foundation assets.  All design and construction contracts would be the foundation's responsibility, as well.

Other action items include a change in enrollment projections for full-time equivalent day students at Bowie State University (revised slightly upward) and clarification of the definition of "spouse" in board policies.

After the public session, the board will return to a closed executive session meeting.

Background information and agendas will be available at the meeting. Sign language interpreters and/or appropriate accommodations for eligible individuals with disabilities will be provided upon request. Please call 301.445.1901 (voice) or 301.314.7683 (TTY/ITT) to make special arrangements.

Parking for attendees is available in the Walker Avenue Garage, located off of Hilltop Circle on Walker Avenue. For driving directions to UMBC and a campus map, click http://www.umbc.edu/aboutumbc/directions.php.
