USM Board of Regents to Vote on Proposed Academic Programs, Budget Items

Adelphi, Md. (June 15, 2011) -- The University System of Maryland (USM) Board of Regents at its next meeting will vote on several new academic proposals and act upon the fiscal year 2013 capital budget request and FY 2013-2017 capital improvement program.

The public session of the meeting will begin at 8:30 a.m. Friday, June 17, in the Library Conference and Special Collections rooms of the Thurgood Marshall Library at Bowie State University, located at 14000 Jericho Park Road, Bowie, MD.

The votes on capital budgets follow the annual capital budget workshop last month to review and discuss strategic goals for the system's capital improvement program. The presidents of the system's 12 institutions participated in that workshop.

The board also will vote on the FY 2012 schedule of tuition and mandatory fees and the proposed Board of Regents Work Plan that would guide the study on the potential merger of the University of Maryland, College Park and the University of Maryland, Baltimore.

The regents will hear the Chancellor's annual report and reports from the councils of university system presidents, faculty, staff and students.

After the public meeting, the board will meet in executive session.
