USM Schools Teaming to Maximize Benefit of PeopleSoft - Chris Phillips, UMB, Bob Preston, UMBC and Jason Jacobs, CedarCrestone
UMBC completed the implementation of PeopleSoft FS 8.4 just as UMB was beginning their implementation of FS 8.8. UMB was able to benefit from the lessons learned at UMBC on such things as the interfaces to the state for GL and AP and on campus reporting tools. UMB was able to use some of the same designs and code from UMBC as a starting point to reduce design and development effort. In return, UMBC has benefited from improvements to code and design from UMB that they have been able to incorporate into their system. Teaming between schools was further extended to resource sharing across schools, both internal and consulting resources, to address issues with work-load, skill sets and budgets.
CRM Shelfware - Chris Boulet, Oracle Product Expert
During this session Oracle will give an overview of CRM for Higher Education. The Oracle CRM product expert will discuss some of the benefits of implementing the CRM modules you own today!

Got UPK? - Robin Reid, UMB and Cassandra Wiley, UMB
**** Back by popular demand****
The PeopleSoft User Productivity Kit software (UPK) can be used to create a variety of files useful throughout a project's life cycle including course guides, job aids and system simulations valuable in user training and ongoing support. At University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) the team has also used simulation files in presentations.
UMB trainers Robin Reid and Cassandra Wiley will share their experiences - including lessons learned - in evaluating UPK and then integrating it into the plan, design and development for training Financials 8.8 without the hassle of creating and maintaining a separate training database.
If you're a USM school, then know it or not...you already "Got UPK!" This session will help you "get UPK" and how much it can do for your project.
ORACLE UPGRADE LAB - Kim Rosinski, Oracle ASC Project Director, and Bob Braden, Oracle Consulting Sales Manager.
Use the Oracle Application Solution Center for your next upgrade, find out why!
No one understands Enterprise Upgrades or Implementations more than Oracle's Application Solution Centers (ASC). The Solution Centers can support your project through value added services that can be onsite, lab based or remote. The Solution Centers give your project the ability to tap into the deep upgrade and implementation domain of our consulting teams. The ASC upgrade lab has been around since 1997 and has consistently delivered value and quality to over 600 hundred customers. Find out how our unique approach allows the upgrade lab to provide a distinct suite of deliverables to produce an upgrade solution with lower costs, shorter upgrade timelines and higher quality than any other upgrade alternative. This will translate into a successful upgrade project for your institution.
e-Procurement Demonstration - Gene Grogan- Oracle Product Experts
This session will demonstrate Oracle's PeopleSoft Enterprise eProcurement module. This module is a self-service requisitioning application that controls employee spending. eProcurement allows employees to manage their own requisitions from searching for items and submitting requisitions to tracking statuses and changing requisitions - all while identifying exceptions, enforcing policies and controlling employee buying. Come join the product expert for a demonstration of this module that many of the campuses already own!
The Benefits of Front-end Address Validation for Academic Institutions - Jeremiah Gray, Senior Account Manager QAS
Invalid addresses in your database are a huge issue that can affect your admissions group and registrar's office and can significantly impact the success of your self service applications. By adding address validation to your existing PeopleSoft Campus Solutions application, you ensure that addresses being captured are validated at the point of entry
10:30-11:20 a.m. Concurrent Session III
Designing/Retooling Student Advisement Rules to be Maintenance and Exception/Substitution Friendly - Ross Leisten
Applying "Course Exceptions" to individual student's Degree Progress Analysis can be a daunting process made worse by the fact that selecting the correct rule may require a certain amount of "trial and
error guesswork." The unintended results of its global nature can
make "Course Substitutions" an even uglier option. Using a consistent rule and verbiage structure coupled with a few other tips and tricks as well as a few basic rules queries can make life easier for the staff members charged with placing Exceptions and Substitutions, and advisement module maintenance, and faculty and students attempting to make sense of the analysis results. Who knows, the need for those cumbersome, hand built requirement spread sheets might even go away!
Extending PeopleSoft's Process Scheduler - AppWorx
AppWorx extends PeopleSoft's Process Scheduler with sophisticated automation and integration capabilities. AppWorx has advanced output management abilities as well, allowing you to generate reports and distribute them via email, network printer, even cell phone automatically. Notifications can also be issued to alert to a job completion or failure. It's a Knockout...UPK Wins over Training Database
In a second presentation, UMB presenters Robin Reid and Cassandra Wiley will present why the eUMB Training Team decided to use PeopleSoft User Productivity Kit (UPK) as the basis for delivering classroom training. They will share lessons learned including what they would do differently next time.
Using brief demos of the most useful features, they will demonstrate how UPK "knocked out" a "traditional training database" with the ability to:
- Eliminate the need to create, populate and maintain a training database
- Update from one source to update ALL training materials
- Provide enough structure for non-trainers to successfully prepare for and deliver Go-Live training
- Provide a foundation for post Go-Live support for the users, central office, help desk and project team

iStrategy Birds of a Feather - Jerry Waldron, Salisbury Univerisity
Several USM campuses have been up and running on the PeopleSoft Systems for three years now. Although most business functions have survived the change and are now working well in the "new world", reporting is an area that we have all been looking to improve upon. The iStrategy Business Intelligence (BI) product arrived on the scene over a year ago and several campuses jumped on board. It is a powerful and effective tool for monitoring BI metrics and reporting. How has your campus used iStrategy and what do you think would make it even more effective? This session will be a discussion of issues related to the product, implementation issues, training and user acceptance.

Finance Upgrade vs. Implementation at UMBC - Bob Preston, UMBC and Cliff Merkell, CedarCrestone.
Since UMBC is among the first to attempt the upgrade from FS 8.4 to FS 8.9, this presentation will focus on the differences between the implementation process vs. upgrade process from the planning and team building phase to the technical differences to project management and execution. UMBC has discovered several important differences between an upgrade and an implementation. With proper planning and execution, they should be able to improve their system and expand their base of PeopleSoft Power Users thru this upgrade process.
