September 25th - Dr. Paula Shrewsbury from the University of Maryland, College Park, Department of Entomology - "Influence of Native Plants on Arthropod Biodiversity and Conservation Biological Control in Urban Landscapes." Seminar will be held on Friday at 2:00 pm in the Technology Research Center, Room 206, on the campus of University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC), and is free and open to the public. Registration is not required. Visitor parking passes for the TRC lot may be purchased for $4.00 in the CUERE office in TRC 102/105 on the UMBC campus, shortly before seminar.

September 24th  - Overview of UMCP Campus Sustainability, 12:00-1:00pm, Prince George's Room, Stamp Student Union, on the University of Maryland, College Park campus. The UMCP campus has made great progress in the past year toward its goal of becoming a national leader in sustainability and a model green university. In this first session of this semester's Sustainability Speaker Series, the staff of the Office of Sustainability will provide an overview of the infrastructural improvements, policies, programs, and people that are making this campus more sustainable and will give a sneak preview of the exciting topics that will be presented during the other sessions this semester.

September 24th - Aerosols Matter for Climate and Health. What We Remote Sensing Scientists Can Do to Help, Dr. Ralph Kahn, NASA Goddard Space Flight Center Climate Branch. Abstract. Seminar will be held from 3:30-4:30pm in the Computer and Space Sciences (CSS) Building, Auditorium (Room 2400), on the University of Maryland, College Park campus. Refreshments will be served at 3:00pm in the adjoining Atrium Contact: Rachel Pinker for more information.
