USM Board of Regents to Meet December 7 at University of Maryland, Baltimore
The University System of Maryland (USM) Board of Regents will meet in regular
session on Friday, December 7 at 1 p.m. in the Terrace Lounge at the University
of Maryland, Baltimore, 621 W. Lombard St. in Baltimore.
The Board will consider several agenda items, including:
- Extension of USM tuition remission benefits to permanent faculty and staff of Baltimore City Community College, as well as to their dependent children; the extension is dictated by last year's passage of H.B. 336, which granted remission to permanent faculty, staff, and their dependent children at Morgan State University and St. Mary's College of Maryland
- Next steps for the revitalization plan for Coppin State College
- New program proposals, including a bachelor of science in sociology and in political science from Coppin State College; a B.S. in exercise science, a doctorate in organizational leadership, and a doctor of physical therapy degree, all from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore; and an extension of the University of Baltimore's existing master of business administration program to an off-campus site
- Shared governance plans from Bowie State University, Coppin State College, the University of Baltimore, and the University of Maryland, Baltimore
- Results of periodic reviews of academic programs at Towson University
- Report on the workload of the USM faculty
- Review of summary report of USM responses to the agreement between the State of Maryland and the federal Office of Civil Rights
- Plan for increasing minority achievement at the USM institutions
- Update on USM cost containment efforts
- Update on the USM's Fiscal Year 2003 operating and capital budgets
- Report on Minority Business Enterprise activity for FY 2001
