Graduate Schools at USM Institutions Recognized by U.S. News & World Report

Adelphi, Md. -- Professional schools at the University of Maryland, College Park, the University of Maryland, Baltimore and the University of Baltimore are among the leaders in graduate school rankings published in March by U.S. News & World Report.

The magazine recognized several professional schools that are part of the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB), located on the city of Baltimore's west side.

The School of Medicine ranked No. 37 among medical schools, an improvement of one spot from last year and three spots from 2010. The School of Social Work was ranked No. 16 nationally.

The School of Law improved three spots to No. 39 overall. The University of Baltimore School of Law was ranked at No. 113, an improvement of four spots.

The School of Nursing had four master's specialties placed among the Top 10 in the 2012 rankings (released earlier for certain health specialties such as nursing). The Health Services Leadership and Management specialty was ranked No. 3. Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing ranked No. 7. Adult and Gerontological Nurse Practitioner and Family Nurse Practitioner ranked No. 8 and No. 9, respectively.

At the University of Maryland, College Park, several schools received prominent rankings.

The A. James Clark School of Engineering ranked No. 18 nationally, an improvement of four spots from 2011. The College of Education was ranked No. 23.

The Robert H. Smith School of Business ranked No. 44 among MBA programs in the country. Faculty leaders and deans nationally ranked the Smith School's information systems program No. 6 overall in the U.S.
