Higher Education User Group (HEUG) Honors USM's Stan Jakubik with Lifetime Achievement Award

Adelphi, Md. (March 23, 2016) -- The Higher Education Group (HEUG), an international organization comprised of institutions that use application software from the Oracle Corporation, has honored University System of Maryland (USM) assistant vice chancellor Stan Jakubik with its inaugural Lifetime Achievement Award.

At its recent Annual Alliance Conference, the HEUG recognized Jakubik for the scale of contributions he has made to higher education during a 45-year career.

A focus of Jakubik's prominent role with the USM Information Technology staff is to coordinate projects that occur on multiple campuses--typically administrative systems implementations and upgrades. For the past 17 years, Jakubik's office has been based in USM space at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) Technology Center.

The following highlights about Jakubik's work in higher education are excerpted from a news release issued by the HEUG:

Lew Conner, Executive Director of the HEUG said that "for nearly 45 years Stan has been dedicated to students, faculty and staff at five different institutions."

In his 15 year volunteer role with the HEUG, Jakubik has served as President, Chairman of the Mid-Atlantic Regional Alliance Conference, Past-President, Vice President of Community Development, Chairman of the Nominations and Elections Committee and Oracle relationship liaison.  Jakubik traveled globally for the HEUG as well attending and presenting in Europe and Australia.  He also served as the primary spokesperson for International Oracle User Community for 4 years.  Jakubik was inducted into the HEUG Hall of Fame in 2013

Conner went on to say that "Stan's calm and thoughtful approach as a HEUG board member has served as a model of excellence for many board members that have followed."

HEUG President Mario Berry said, "Stan Jakubik's passionate commitment to the HEUG, and the number of years he provided leadership and direction has helped the HEUG become such a global force in the industry."
