USM Regents Committees on Finance, Economic Development Meet June 9

Adelphi, Md. (June 7, 2016) -- The University System of Maryland (USM) Board of Regents Committee on Finance and the Committee on Economic Development and Technology Commercialization will meet on Thursday, June 9. Both meetings will take place in the open area of the 7th floor library at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC), located at 1000 Hilltop Circle, Baltimore, MD.

At 10 a.m., the Committee on Finance will vote publicly on whether to reconvene in closed session. In closed session, the committee would consider items specifically exempted in the Open Meetings Act from public consideration. Those items are: two real property acquisitions in the City of College Park; RFPs for housekeeping, information technology professional consulting services; and professional staffing augmentation for analytics, planning, and technology; and the proposed fiscal year (FY) 2018 Capital Budget submission.

During the public session, scheduled to reconvene at approximately 10:45 a.m., the committee will vote on several action items, including the USM FY 2017 system-funded construction program request, the Thirty-Eighth Bond Resolution, and the University of Maryland Eastern Shore Facilities Master Plan Update.  The agenda and supporting materials can be accessed here.

The Committee on Economic Development and Technology Commercialization at noon will vote publicly on whether to reconvene in closed session to consider a request for proposal (RFP) for a Federally Funded Research and Development Center (FFRDC). In public session, the committee will hear three information items. These include a presentation by recently appointed USM Vice Chancellor for Economic Development Thomas Sadowski on USM's increasingly vital strategic imperative to build on its success and focus resources more strategically on the state's economic development priorities. The agenda and supporting materials can be accessed here.

Sign language interpreters and/or other appropriate accommodations for eligible individuals with disabilities will be provided upon request. Please call 301.445.2756 (voice) or 301.314.7683 (TTY/ITT) for special arrangements.

Parking for attendees is available in the Walker Avenue Garage, located off of Hilltop Circle on Walker Avenue. For driving directions to UMBC and a campus map, click here.
