USM Regents Committee on Education Policy and Student Life Meets January 17

Adelphi, Md. (Jan. 13, 2017) -- The University System of Maryland (USM) Board of Regents Committee on Education Policy and Student Life at its next meeting will vote on three new academic program proposals and hear a report on extramural funding for fiscal year 2016.

The meeting is scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 17, on the seventh floor of the Albin O. Kuhn Library on the campus of the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC).

Two of the academic programs are at the University of Maryland, College Park: a master's of quantitative finance, and a Ph.D. and M.S. in environmental health. The third proposed program is a M.S. in transformational leadership at University of Maryland University College.

The report on extramural funding will detail a total of $1.266 billion during FY 2016, a slight increase from FY 2015. Other information items include an update on student activism and results of periodic reviews of academic programs.

The final public session item is a vote on whether to reconvene in closed session to discuss items exempted from public consideration under the Open Meetings Act. The reason for closing is to maintain confidentiality of personnel-related and personal information of candidates for faculty awards and honorary degrees.
