USM Board of Regents to Meet September 21, Present Regents Staff Awards

Baltimore, Md. (Sept. 19, 2018) – The University System Board of Regents (BOR) will meet Friday, September 21 at 9 a.m. in public session at Towson University.

The meeting will be held in Ballroom A (4th Floor) of the West Village Commons at Towson University.

The meeting will begin with an educational forum, “A New Vision for Higher Education: A Merger,” presented by GALLUP Executive Director for Education & Workforce Development Brandon Busteed.

The staff awards recognize staff members who have made exceptional contributions to their organizations, students and the university community. Recipients will be honored by the board at an earlier private awards breakfast, and then acknowledged briefly during the public session.

The board will hear reports from the Chancellor, councils of university system presidents, faculty, staff and students. The final public session item is a vote on whether to reconvene in closed session to discuss items exempted from public consideration under the Open Meetings Act.

These items include an honorary degree request, acquisition of real property, an update on status of collective bargaining at USM institutions, discussion with staff and legal counsel regarding a lawsuit, and a discussion regarding the University of Maryland, College Park football investigation.
