USM Board of Regents Meets October 19

Baltimore, Md. (Oct. 17, 2018)The University System of Maryland (USM) Board of Regents will hold its next regularly scheduled meeting at 8:30
a.m. Friday, October 19 in the atrium at the University System of Maryland at Hagerstown (USMH).


Dr. Jay Perman, president of the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB), will deliver the educational forum, “Strengthening Maryland’s Health Care Workforce.”

Action items include the renovation of 16. S Poppleton Street in Baltimore on the UMB campus and approvals of minutes of past committee meetings. The board will be briefly updated on the Frostburg State University facilities master plan.

The regents will hear reports from the councils of university system presidents, faculty, staff and students. At the end of the public agenda, the board will vote on whether to reconvene in closed session to discuss items that fall under closing guidelines of the Open Meetings Act.

Those items are to consider a real property acquisition via lease of space in the city of Hagerstown; investment of the USM Common Trust Fund; ratification of a collective bargaining agreement and update on the status of collective bargaining at USM institutions; legal advice regarding an institutional matter involving potential litigation; and discussion regarding the University of Maryland, College Park football investigation.
