Three USM Board of Regents Committees to Hold Regular Meetings March 27

Baltimore, Md. (March 26, 2019) – Three committees of the University System of Maryland (USM) Board of Regents will hold regularly scheduled meetings on Wednesday, March 27. The meetings will take place in Room 218 of the Talon Center at Coppin State University, 2500 W. North Avenue in Baltimore.

The Committee on Finance will meet at 10:30 a.m. The committee will vote publicly on whether to reconvene in closed session to discuss an administrative matter involving a regent committee assignment. The committee is scheduled to reconvene at 10:45 a.m. to hear a presentation on USM enrollment projections for 2020-29 and vote on the 2019-20 room and board schedule. Other action items include a dining services renewal at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore.

The Committee on Economic Development and Technology Commercialization will meet at 12:30 p.m. in Room 218 and hear a presentation from David Horowitz, CEO of featured startup Retrium and an alumnus of the University of Maryland, College Park. The company’s technology facilitates improvements in software development. The committee also will be briefed on economic development updates at Coppin State.

Finally, the Committee on Audit is expected to meet at 2:30 p.m. Public session items include the USM year-end 6/30/18 single audit report. The committee would vote publicly to meet in closed session to consider issues specifically exempted in the Open Meetings Act from the requirement for public consideration. Those issues include legislative audit matters that are ongoing and, therefore, confidential; a discussion of investigative matters that may lead to criminal prosecution; the calendar year 2019 internal audit plan of activity; and the committee’s meeting separately with the independent auditors and director of audit.
