USM Board of Regents Appoints Search Committee for New Chancellor
Baltimore, MD (July 9, 2019) – University System of Maryland (USM) Board of Regents Chair Linda Gooden today announced the appointment of an 18-member search committee to conduct a nationwide search for a new chancellor for the 12-campus university system. Current USM Chancellor Robert L. Caret, whose five-year appointment began July 1, 2015, last month announced his plans not to seek an additional five-year term and will complete his term on June 30, 2020.
The search committee will be led by two co-chairs: Board of Regents Chair Gooden and Vice Chair Barry Gossett.
The other members of the committee, comprised of regents and campus presidents as well as representatives from the USM Foundation Board, faculty, students and the national higher education community, are (alphabetically):

During the next several months, the committee will meet with USM stakeholders, review nominations and applications for the position, conduct interviews with selected candidates, and forward top candidates to the Board of Regents, which will make the final selection. Assisting the search committee in this work is Witt/Kieffer, an executive search firm.
