USM Board of Regents Meets February 21
Baltimore, Md. (Feb. 19, 2020) – The University System of Maryland (USM) Board of Regents will meet on Friday, February 21. The meeting begins at 8:30 a.m. and takes place in the University Center (Ballroom) at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC).The public session will be live streamed to the public. The board will hear an educational forum, “Addressing Excessive Drinking Among College Students,” presented by Malinda Kennedy, Sc.D., project director for the Maryland Collaborative to Reduce College Drinking and Related Problems.
Action items before the board include the Universities at Shady Grove 2019 Facilities Master Plan Update, an increase in authorization for the Glen Towers Renovation Project at Towson University, and a School of Nursing Student Services Renovation and Window Replacement project for the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB). The board also will vote on a new B.A. in Real Estate and the Built Environment at the University of Maryland, College Park, and a proposal for new academic ranks and titles at the University of Maryland, Baltimore.
The regents will hear reports from the councils of university system presidents, faculty, staff and students.
To conclude the public session, the board will vote on whether to reconvene in closed session to discuss items exempted from public consideration under the Open Meetings Act. These items include various personnel matters, includes one related to honorary degree and faculty awards, and administrative matters, including the role of a board workgroup.
