USM Schools Among Nation's Best in Latest U.S. News & World Report Rankings

 

Adelphi, Md. (Aug. 21, 2009) - University System of Maryland (USM) schools have been recognized among the nation's top universities in the latest edition of U.S. News & World Report's annual college rankings.

According to the 2009 edition of America's Best Colleges released August 20, 2009:

University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) ranked No. 1 among "up-and-coming" national universities. UMBC also ranked No. 1 among all U.S. public national universities in undergraduate teaching, tied with Stanford at 4th among all national universities and just behind Dartmouth, Princeton and Yale.

University of Maryland, College Park (UMCP) maintained its No. 18 ranking among all U.S. public national universities and its ranking at No. 53 overall;

UMCP's Robert H. Smith School of Business ascended one spot, from No. 17 to No. 16, in the overall business rankings. The Smith School is ranked 9 among top public business schools.

UMCP's A. James Clark School of Engineering is ranked No. 23 among all schools - tied with Rensselaer Polytechnic Inst. (NY) and the University of Washington. The Clark School is ranked 14 among top public engineering schools.

Salisbury University ranked No. 7 and Towson University ranked No. 8 among Top-Public Universities-Master's category (North).
