USM Regents Committee on Finance Meets October 7

Adelphi, Md. (Oct. 4, 2010) -- The University System of Maryland (USM) Board of Regents Committee on Finance at its next meeting will hear a presentation on the Coppin State University facilities master plan and act on energy-performance contracts at three USM institutions.

The public meeting is scheduled to begin at about 11 a.m. Thursday, October 7 in the Minnegan Room of the Johnny Unitas Stadium Field House at Towson University. Before the public meeting, the committee will convene in executive session at 10:15 a.m.

The Coppin State facilities master plan covers fiscal years 2009 through 2019. It builds on the framework established in the 2001-2011 plan and addresses needs associated with the university's targeted enrollment growth.

The committee will vote on whether to recommend approval of energy-performance contracts sought by Bowie State University, Towson University and the University of Maryland, Baltimore County with different energy service companies. Through energy-performance contracts, USM institutions can reduce campus energy consumption and align with state goals for carbon footprint reduction.

In other business, the committee will vote on a proposed relocation of the Shuttle UM facility at the University of Maryland, College Park and hear an informational review of capital improvement projects.

Background information and agendas will be available at the meeting. Sign language interpreters and/or other appropriate accommodations for eligible individuals with disabilities will be provided upon request. Please call 301.445.2756 (voice) or 301.314.7683 (TTY/ITT) for special arrangements.

Parking for attendees is available in the adjacent Lot 20. For driving directions to Towson University and a campus map, click http://wwwnew.towson.edu/main/abouttu/visitor/dircampus.asp
