All advancement staff, from entry to senior level:
Become a more effective fundraiser-and even a better friend-by improving your listening
and questioning skills. Using a self-assessment tool developed by the Institute for
Charitable Giving and used with their permission, Beth Herman will help you identify
your listening style and target areas for improvement. Then you'll develop strategic
questions that suit your style while eliciting valuable information. You'll gain new
understanding about communicating effectively with your prospects and donors.
About Beth Herman: VP at Washington College since 2005, Beth Herman has worked 24 years in
educational advancement at institutions including Franklin & Marshall College, University of
Puget Sound, University of Washington, and the University of Redlands. A frequent trainer on
many facets of advancement, she received CASE's Crystal Apple Award for Excellence in Teaching in 2001.
