Vision 2030: Executive Summary

Vision 2030: From Excellence to Preeminence

The University System of Maryland is one of the most diverse and successful public university systems in the country. The education our institutions offer, the research they conduct, and the service they provide promote opportunity, advance social mobility, fuel the state’s economy, and improve the quality of life all Marylanders enjoy.

Still, in the coming decade, several trends will test our ability to innovative and deliver an accessible, world-class model of education. And so in 2021, we initiated an expansive and inclusive planning process to reimagine our instruction, our scholarship, and our discovery.

Five priorities will steer the System’s work before 2030.

Vision 2030: From Excellence to Preeminence will secure our impact well into the future. Building on a solid foundation of success, the plan establishes five priorities shaping our policies and actions, and serving as benchmarks by which we measure our progress.

Vision 2030 is more than a plan to sustain what has been.

It is a promise to transform what will be.
