Salisbury University’s Nursing Program Launches Alzheimer’s MOOC

SALISBURY, MD—Registration is open for Salisbury University’s newest massive open online class (MOOC), Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia Care.

The course, available globally through the University System of Maryland’s edX platform, was developed by Dr. Mary DiBartolo, Fulton Endowed Professor of Geriatric Nursing in SU’s School of Nursing.

The First MOOC from Salisbury University’s Nursing Program

SALISBURY, MD— Salisbury University’s School of Nursing is launching the campus’ first massive open online course (MOOC).

Available on the edX platform, the Overview & Management of Parkinson’s Disease course targets nurses, physical therapists, social workers and other health care professionals who care for people with Parkinson’s. It provides an overview of the disease, and explores the patient experience and special care considerations.

University of Maryland, Baltimore’s Spirituality Competency MOOC

Religion and spirituality are areas of diversity and multiculturalism that have yet to be comprehensively addressed in most mental health training programs. Without this type of training, many practitioners lack the competence and confidence to engage in spiritually competent care–clinical practice that recognizes the importance of religion and spirituality in people’s identity, worldview, meaning-making and, therefore, their psychological well-being.

UMES Offers its’ First MOOC

UMES to offer first-of-its-kind MOOC in Hospitality/tourism course makes history on Boston-based edX platform.

On July 10, the University of Maryland Eastern Shore will become the nation's first historically black institution to launch a Massively Open Online Course (MOOC) on the Boston-based edX platform in partnership with the University System of Maryland's Kirwan Center for Academic Innovation.

University of Baltimore MOOC on the Supreme Court

Beginning Sept. 30, the University of Baltimore School of Law and edX—a premier provider of massive online open courses (MOOCs)—will host "The Supreme Court and American Politics," an eight-week self-paced examination of the causes and effects of politics on the nation's top legal institution. The course, available entirely online at no cost, is hosted by Lyle Denniston, long-time Supreme Court reporter, unofficial dean emeritus of the Supreme Court press corps and UB's Wilson H.
