M.O.S.T. Regional OER Forum: Eastern Maryland

Are you new to open educational resources (OER) and interested in learning how to adopt or scale OER in your course or across your institution? Register to join the Maryland Open Source Textbook (M.O.S.T.) Initiative at the M.O.S.T. Regional OER Forum: Eastern Maryland to participate in interactive sessions, discussions, and hands-on workshops on OER in higher education. This day-long regional forum is targeted to 2- and 4-year higher education faculty, instructional designers, librarians, and administrators interested in getting an introduction to openly licensed materials, finding resources to support OER adoption, and joining discussions on OER accessibility, quality, and impact on student success.

Learn from the 2018 M.O.S.T. mini-grantees in addition to colleagues across two- and four-year Maryland public higher education institutions who have successfully adopted, adapted, created, and advanced OER at their institutions.

What is the potential for open educational resources and open education to transform higher education for students, faculty, and institutions?  The plenary speaker will review the fundamentals of what constitutes OER, highlight its advantages for faculty and students, and set the stage for thinking about OER and open education as tools to increase access, affordability, and achievement.

Finding, Adopting, and Adapting High-Quality OER

Explore sources for high-quality OER and learn how to identify and address gaps in existing OER content and customize content to best meet your teaching objectives and your students’ learning goals.

Discuss OER implementation, scaling, successes and challenges, and how M.O.S.T. can support your work with colleagues from across the state.

 

CLOSING SESSION: REFLECTIONS FROM THE DAY AND NEXT STEPS | 3:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.

After a day of learning about the evolving landscape of OER, the closing session will allow attendees  the opportunity to move the conversation to next steps. Where are we along the continuum of OER adoption? What kinds of support will we need to move forward?
