Board of Regents to Meet June 27 at University of Maryland, Baltimore

Special Meeting of the Finance Committee Follows Immediately

To Address Tuition Rates

The University System of Maryland (USM) Board of Regents will meet in public session on Friday, June 27 at 9 a.m. in the Terrace Lounge of the Student Center at the University of Maryland, Baltimore, 621 W. Lombard Street in Baltimore.

Immediately following the full Board meeting, the Board of Regents Committee on Finance will meet in a special public session in the same location to address the issue of tuition rates for Fiscal Year 2004. The Finance Committee's recommendation will be voted on by the full Board during a special public meeting on Friday, July 11 at 1 p.m. in the USM Office, 3300 Metzerott Road in Adelphi, MD.

The Board will consider several agenda items at the June 27 meeting, including:

  • Fiscal Year 2005 capital budget request of $236,053,000 and system priority listing, along with FY 2005-09 capital improvement program and FY 2005-14 10-year capital plan
  • FY 2004 system-funded construction program request of $18.8 million
  • USM's 22nd bond resolution
  • Proposed revision to Board of Regents policy on endowment fund spending rule
  • Revisions to Board of Regents policy granting tuition remission benefits to faculty, staff and their spouses and dependent children for Morgan State University, St. Mary's College, and Baltimore City Community College
  • Revised USM plan for deferred compensation
  • USM contingent deferred compensation plan
  • Dining services contract for Towson University
  • Food services contract for University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC)
  • Case management services contract for UMBC
  • Increased authorization to construct an atrium in the Chemistry Teaching Building at the University of Maryland, College Park (UMCP)
  • Natural gas purchase agreement for UMCP
  • USM financial data report for the seven months ended April 30, 2003
  • Proposals for academic programs, including a bachelor of technical/professional studies (BTPS) in information technology and a BTPS in allied health, both from Towson University; master of law in U.S. law from the University of Baltimore; a post-baccalaureate certificate in American contemporary music from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County; a bachelor of science in information systems and a master of education in education concept and practices, both from the University of Maryland, College Park; a doctor of education in educational leadership from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore; a post-baccalaureate certificate in project management and incorporation of area of concentration in interdisciplinary project management in three existing graduate programs, from the University of Maryland University College; and a discontinuance of the doctor of psychology program at the University of Baltimore
  • Proposed delegation of authority to the USM chancellor for certain academic program actions
  • Proposed delegation of authority to the USM chancellor for periodic reviews of existing programs and annual institutional submissions to the Maryland Higher Education Commission regarding low-productivity programs
  • USM policy on professional commitment of faculty
