Anwer Hasan

Anwer Hasan has more than 37 years of experience in water and other infrastructure projects in USA and overseas. He has worked in USA, UK, Afghanistan, UAE, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan. Mr. Hasan is currently managing an infrastructure unit of 130 full-time staff with annual revenue of $40 million.

He has managed large water and sewer programs, the largest was in excess of $2.7B sanitary sewer replacement program for the City of Baltimore. His experience also includes; design and construction management of a water treatment plant including water intake, transmission line, pump station, treatment plant and distribution system in Loudon County, Virginia. The wastewater treatment plant experience includes; advance wastewater treatment process such as headworks, enhance nutrient removal and other primary, secondary and tertiary upgrades.

Mr. Hasan is a former chairman of the Maryland Higher Education Commission, Governor’s Commission on Middle Eastern American Affairs, Maryland Aviation Administration Commission and Governor’s P-20 Council.

He has also chaired Governor, County Executives and Mayor’s transition teams focusing on water, transportation, infrastructure, sustainability, and resiliency. Previously he has served as the Chairman of Requirement Committee for Base Realignment Closure (BRAC) Task Forces for Howard County and has served for two consecutive years in the Spending and Affordability Committee in Howard County.

Mr. Hasan is a community leader; he started the Howard County Muslim Council 19 years ago and increased the number of councils to 8 councils including Howard, Baltimore, Montgomery, Anne Arundel, Prince George’s, Harford and Frederick Counties and Baltimore City. He served as a President of Howard County Muslim Council and Maryland Muslim Council. He also served on the Mayor’s Advisory Council on Minority and Women Enterprises.

Mr. Hasan has received numerous awards, including the 2016 Most Influential Marylander Award, 2006 Nancy Grasmick Excellence for Minority Achievement Award, 2004 Martin Luther King Community Service Award and City of Baltimore Mayor Citation
