USM Board of Regent Chair Clifford Kendall Named to Greater Washington Government Contractor Hall of Fame

Adelphi, Md. (Oct. 19, 2010) -- Clifford M. Kendall, chair of the University System of Maryland (USM) Board of Regents, has been named the 2010 inductee to the Greater Washington Government Contractor Hall of Fame. He will be honored November 3 during the eighth annual Greater Washington Government Contractor Awards gala at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Tysons Corner, Va.

In announcing his recognition, the selection committee said Chairman Kendall "is being recognized for his professional excellence, consistent track record of growth and success, and his history of extraordinary personal contributions to his community, company and industry."

Chairman Kendall is the former chair and chief executive officer of Computer Data Systems, Inc., now known as ACS Government Solutions Group. A Montgomery County resident, he was initially appointed to the USM Board of Regents in March 1999.

Since 2001, he has served on the board of VSE Corporation, a government and defense engineering support firm, and was named VSE board chair in May 2010. He also serves on the boards of i360, Inc., and Burdeshaw Associates, Ltd.

He previously served on the board of directors of Washington Real Estate Trust and was chairman of the board of On-Site Sourcing, Inc., and Objective Communications, Inc. He was also director of the Montgomery Community Foundation, which he founded and chaired, and served as a board member of the Maryland Economic Development Commission.

A graduate of the University of Maryland, College Park and George Washington University (GWU), Chairman Kendall serves on the board of directors for the Association of Governing Boards of Universities and Colleges.

He is a past chair of the Greater Washington Board of Trade, the Montgomery/Prince George's County CEO Roundtable, and the Technology Council of Maryland.

Chairman Kendall has received multiple awards and honors during his career, including his election to the Washington Business Hall of Fame (1999), the Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce Mario Loiderman Emeritus Business Leader Award (2004), and the inaugural George Washington University President's Outstanding Service Awards (2008).
