USM Regents Committees on Finance, Technology Commercialization Meet September 1

Adelphi, Md. (Aug. 30, 2011) -- The University System of Maryland (USM) Board of Regents Committee on Finance and the recently formed Committee on Economic Development and Technology Commercialization will meet Thursday, September 1 in the Stamp Student Union at the University of Maryland, College Park (UMCP).

The finance committee will convene publicly at 10 a.m. in Room 2112 (Margaret Brent Room) to announce a vote on immediately convening in closed session. When the public session is scheduled to resume at 10:45, the committee will vote on the facilities master plan for the University of Maryland, Baltimore and a change in funding plans for renovations to two buildings at Towson University.

Frostburg State University President Jonathan Gibralter will present Frostburg State's facilities master plan update. The committee also will hear information items on a proposed Board of Regents policy on endowment fund investment objectives and a review of capital improvement contracts. The Committee on Economic Development and Technology Commercialization will convene at 12 noon in the Juan Ramon Jimenez Room (room 2208) of the Stamp Student Union at UMCP.  The committee will hear a presentation by Robert Rosenbaum, president of the Maryland Technology Development Corporation, and discuss the Montgomery County Bio-Health Intermediary initiative. It will also discuss next steps on developing an economic impact statement and survey regarding USM technology commercialization efforts.
