University System of Maryland Remembers Governor Marvin Mandel
Adelphi, Md. (August 31, 2015) -- The University System
of Maryland (USM) community mourns the passing of Governor Marvin Mandel. As a
member of the USM Board of Regents from 2003 to 2009, Gov. Mandel displayed a
deep and passionate belief in the university system's ability to elevate the
citizens of Maryland and strength the state's economic future. His commitment
to high-quality public higher education was unquestionable.
Governor Mandel brought
a valuable perspective on the needs and impact of higher education to the
board. He worked hard to help ensure access, affordability, and excellence
across the university system. He always spoke his mind and his heart as the
board deliberated on the issues under consideration.
We offer our sincere condolences
to the Mandel family. And we express our deep gratitude for Governor Mandel's
services to the University System of Maryland and to our state.
