USM Board of Regents to Hold Special Meeting August 30

Baltimore, Md. (Aug. 28, 2018) -- The University System of Maryland (USM) Board of Regents will hold a special meeting via conference call at 10 a.m. on Thursday, August 30.

The purpose of the meeting is for the board to receive updates on actions taken since its August 17 decision to assume control of the two separate investigations related to the death of student-athlete Jordan McNair and to the culture of the football program at the University of Maryland, College Park.

The board will vote publicly via the conference call (public vote by phone accessible in the conference room at the USM Adelphi office in the Elkins Building, located at 3300 Metzerott Road, Adelphi, Md.) on whether to reconvene its meeting in closed session. The closed session would follow Open Meetings Act exceptions regarding advice from legal counsel, discussion of personnel matters and potential litigation.

The meeting is expected to be informational only.
