USM Board of Regents Meets December 14

Baltimore, Md. (Dec. 12, 2018) – The University System of Maryland (USM) Board of Regents will hold its next regularly scheduled meeting on Friday, December 14. The meeting begins at 8:30 a.m. and takes place in the Riggs Alumni Center (Dorothy and Nicholas Orem Alumni Hall) at the University of Maryland, College Park (UMCP).

The board will hear an information session, “Title IX Enforcement for Colleges and Universities—A National Perspective,” presented by Megan C. Farrell of MCF Consulting.

Action items before the board include the 2018 facilities master plan for Frostburg State University, new academic degree programs at University of Baltimore and University of Maryland, Baltimore, and a policy whereby USM institutions will ensure proper tracking and protection measures are taken to prevent improper use of USM intellectual property by patent assertion entities.

The regents will hear reports from the councils of university system presidents, faculty, staff and students.

To conclude the public session, the board will vote on whether to reconvene in closed session to discuss items exempted from public consideration under the Open Meetings Act. Exempted items include personnel, collective bargaining, contract, litigation and administrative matters.
