USM Board of Regents Committees on Finance and Economic Development and Technology Commercialization to Meet January 31
Baltimore, Md. (Jan. 29, 2019) – The University System of Maryland (USM) Board of Regents Committee on Finance will hold its next scheduled meeting at 10 a.m. on Thursday, January 31. The meeting will take place at Towson University (TU) in the Minnegan Room of the Field House of Johnny Unitas Stadium.
The committee will vote publicly on whether to reconvene in closed session to discuss an item exempted from public consideration under the Open Meetings Act. That item is an acquisition of real property in the city of Salisbury.
The committee is scheduled to reconvene in public session at 10:15 a.m. The committee will hear several information items, including a review of USM-affiliated entities and a summary of the intercollegiate athletics workgroup review of program finances. The committee will act on revisions to USM real property policies and procedures.
The Committee on Economic Development and Technology Commercialization will meet at noon in the same location. The committee will hear an informational presentation regarding the featured start-up, InferCabulary, from Towson University alumna and company CEO Beth Lawrence. InferCabulary, a member company at the TU Incubator, is a web-based, visual vocabulary and reasoning program that uses a new approach to vocabulary instruction.
The committee will hear an information item from TU Vice President of Strategic Partnerships and Applied Research Daraius Irani regarding TU economic, innovation, and entrepreneurship development.
