Three USM Board of Regents Committees to Meet on February 10

Baltimore, Md. (Feb. 7, 2020) – Three committees of the University System of Maryland (USM) Board of Regents will meet on Monday, February 10. The meetings will take place on the 14th floor of the Saratoga Office Building at the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB). The building is located at 220 North Arch Street in Baltimore, Md.

The Committee on Governance & Compensation will meet in public session at 8:30 a.m. Agenda items include an information item on the Coppin State University faculty salary equity plan. The committee will vote on whether to reconvene in closed session to discuss items exempted from public consideration under the Open Meetings Act. The reasons for closing are to maintain confidentiality regarding collective bargaining negotiations and personnel matters and to handle an administrative item.

The Committee on Finance will meet at 10:30 a.m. The committee will vote on several action items. Those items include the Universities at Shady Grove 2019 Facilities Master Plan Update, an increase in authorization for the Glen Towers Renovation Project at Towson University, and a School of Nursing Student Services Renovation and Window Replacement project for the University of Maryland, Baltimore. Highlights of the USM’s Fiscal Year 2019 audited financial statements also will be discussed.

The Committee on Economic Development and Technology Commercialization meets at 12:30 p.m. and will hear a presentation from featured startup ARMR. The company is developing technology to increase survivability after traumatic battlefield injuries by controlling hemorrhages. The company was founded in 2014 and is located in the University of Maryland, Baltimore BioPark. The meeting includes a presentation from Matt Scassero, director of the University of Maryland UAS Test Site in southern Maryland, regarding the Chesapeake Unmanned Aircraft Systems Corridor initiative. The initiative will bring together government, academia, and industry to create a corridor connecting UAS points of interest.
