USM Board of Regents Meets on Friday, May 1
Baltimore, Md. (April 28, 2020) – The University System of Maryland (USM) Board of Regents will meet at 9 a.m. on Friday, May 1. Access to the meeting is via livestream at the following link: https://www.usmd.edu/regents/meetings/livestream.
Due to the COVID-19-related restrictions on gatherings currently in effect, members of the public who wish to offer comment during the public comment period of the meeting are asked to email their comments in advance of the meeting to the following email address: regents@usmd.edu.
The board will recognize winners of the annual Regents Faculty Awards. Two experts from Moody’s Investors Services will present an educational forum, “Financial Health of Higher Education Institutions.” The presenters are Susan Fitzgerald (associate managing editor, public finance) and Mary Katherine Cooney (vice president, senior analyst).
The regents will hear reports from the councils of university system presidents, faculty, staff and students. Action items include a proposed policy on service contracts and new academic programs at the University of Maryland, College Park.
The board then will vote on whether to reconvene in closed session to discuss items exempted from public consideration under the Open Meetings Act.
These items include meetings with two USM presidents; and administrative matters concerning succession planning with respect to specific presidents and a report by staff on the development of a forecast to estimate the financial impact of COVID-19 and efforts to address the impact.
