USM Board of Regents Meets on Friday, December 18

Baltimore, Md. (Dec. 16, 2020) – The University System of Maryland (USM) Board of Regents will meet at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, December 18. Access to the meeting is via livestream at the following link: https://www.usmd.edu/regents/meetings/livestream.

Due to the COVID-19-related restrictions on gatherings currently in effect, members of the public who wish to comment during the public comment period of the meeting are asked to email their comments in advance of the meeting to the following email address: regents@usmd.edu.

The board will hold an education forum, “COVID-Related Learning Gap: The Higher Education Pipeline.”

The board will vote on proposed amendments to bylaws and the draft committee charge for the Committee on Education Policy and Student Life. The board will hear an information item summary on the USM institutions’ long-term plans for collaboration concerning the acquisition and implementation of new information technology and upgraded business processes.

The regents also will hear reports from the councils of university system presidents, faculty, staff, and students.
The final item of the public session will be a board vote on whether to reconvene in closed session to discuss items exempted from public consideration under the Open Meetings Act. These items include various personnel matters; awarding of contracts for janitorial services and life- and long-term disability insurance; acquisition of real property; and consideration of a naming request.
