USM Board of Regents Committee on Economic Development and Technology Commercialization Meets on Feb. 22
Baltimore, Md. (Feb. 18, 2022) – The University System of Maryland (USM) Board of Regents Committee on Economic Development and Technology Commercialization will meet at 9:30 a.m. on Feb. 22. Access to the meeting is via the following dial-in information:

CEO Suzan Shahrestani will give a presentation regarding her company Minnowtech, an aquaculture technology business that provides a software imaging platform enabling shrimp farmers to estimate shrimp abundance non-invasively with precision.
Al Delia, vice president for regional development and engagement at Frostburg State University, will give an informational presentation regarding recent developments in economic development activities.
The committee will vote on an action item regarding an additional allocation of up to $2 million per year during a three-year period for the USM Momentum Fund. The Momentum Fund has invested $6.4 million in 26 companies and raised an estimated $65 million in external co-investment, exceeding an initial goal to raise $15 million in external capital. This item also will be presented to the Committee on Finance for its consideration at its April 13 meeting.
Finally, the USM’s Venture Development Director Lindsay Ryan will discuss recommendations stemming from a study of the feasibility of developing multi-institution resources to support entrepreneurial success and an equitable diversity of entrepreneurs and ventures.
