USM Board of Regents Meets on Friday, June 17

Baltimore, Md. (June 15, 2022) – The University System of Maryland (USM) Board of Regents will meet at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, June 17.

The meeting will be held in the Student Services Center Ballroom at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore in Princess Anne, Md.

Members of the public who wish to comment during the public comment period of the meeting are asked to email their comments in advance of the meeting to the following email address: regents@usmd.edu.

The board will hold an educational forum, “USM Strategic Plan: Vision 2030: From Excellence to Preeminence.” After the forum, the board will vote on the plan as an action item.

Other agenda items before the board include several academic programs at USM institutions, the USM fiscal year (FY) 2023 operating budget, and the USM Early Capital Pilot: Fund Balance Allocation and Investment. The board will vote on an affirmation of the selection of Carolyn Ringer Lepre as next Salisbury University (SU) president and vote on resolutions of appreciation for three regents and two presidents (University of Maryland, Baltimore County President Freeman Hrabowski and SU President Chuck Wight).

The final item of the public session will be a board vote on whether to reconvene in closed session to discuss items exempted from public consideration under the Open Meetings Act. Those items include requests by three institutions to name buildings after individuals; meetings with two presidents as part of their performance reviews; proposed FY 2024 capital budget submission and potential adjustments to the submission; annual review of USM presidents; presidential and chancellor salary recommendations; and annual review of the USM chancellor.
