Three USM Board of Regents Committees to Meet on September 7, Inclusive of Special Meeting of Committee on Advancement

Baltimore, Md. (Sept. 6, 2022) – Three committees of the University System of Maryland (USM) Board of Regents will meet on Wednesday, September 7.

The USM Board of Regents Committee on Governance & Compensation will meet at 8:30 a.m. Access to the meeting is via the following dial-in information:

The committee will vote on approval for minutes of the open and closed sessions of its June 7 meeting and vote on the committee charter. The committee then will vote on whether to reconvene in closed session to discuss items exempted from public consideration under the Open Meetings Act. Those items are an update on collective bargaining at USM institutions; ratification of collective bargaining memoranda of understanding (MOUs) at two USM institutions; review of tenure letters for two USM presidents; discussion of emeritus status for a prior USM president; an information item regarding the Chancellor’s clinic privileges; and an update on certain personnel contracts and employment agreements.

The committee will hear an information item regarding the Coppin State University facilities master plan and vote on a review of the committee’s charge, role, and responsibilities. The committee also will vote on a proposed amendment to the USM policy on sick and safe leave for faculty members.

The committee will vote on whether to reconvene in closed session to discuss items exempted from public consideration under the Open Meetings Act. Those items are the acquisition of real property in Towson and the development of the proposed fiscal year 2024 operating budget submission and potential adjustments to the submission.
