USM Board of Regents Meets on Friday, February 17

Baltimore, Md. (Feb. 15, 2023) – The University System of Maryland (USM) Board of Regents will meet at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 17.

The board will convene at the Universities at Shady Grove, in Building 2 (Rockville/Potomac Room). The meeting can be accessed via livestream at the following link: https://www.usmd.edu/regents/meetings/livestream.

The board will hold an educational forum, “Anchor Institutions Across the USM: Spotlight on Frostburg State University” presented by USM Vice Chancellor for Research and Economic Development Michele Masucci.

The board will vote on several action items, including new academic programs at several institutions and an amendment to the Board of Regents Policy on Affiliated Philanthropic Support Foundations.

The board also will hear reports from the councils of university system presidents, faculty, staff, and students.
 
Members of the public who wish to comment during the public comment period of the meeting are asked to email their comments in advance of the meeting to the following email address: regents@usmd.edu.

The final item of the public session will be a vote on whether to reconvene in closed session to discuss items exempted from public consideration under the Open Meetings Act. Exempted items include recommendations for Regents’ Faculty Awards; nominations of individuals for honorary degrees; consideration of the awarding of new contracts for scientific supplies and equipment; updates regarding a presidential search at a USM institution and a presidential transition at a USM institution; an update on status of collective bargaining at USM institutions; and an update on periodic reviews of two USM presidents.
