USM Board of Regents Meets on Friday, April 14

Baltimore, Md. (April 12, 2023) – The University System of Maryland (USM) Board of Regents will meet at 9 a.m. on Friday, April 14. The board will convene at Coppin State University in Room 108 of the Physical Education Center.

The board will recognize the 19 winners of the 2023 Regents Faculty Awards. (During a special breakfast reception before the public session, the board will honor each winner individually.)

The board then will hold an educational forum, “ARLIS: The UARC for the Intelligence and Security Enterprise,” presented by Dr. William Regli, professor of computer science at the University of Maryland, College Park (UMCP) and executive director of the Applied Research Library for Intelligence and Security.

The board will vote on several action items, including new academic programs at several institutions, the facilities master plan at the University of Maryland, Baltimore, and the fiscal year 2024 schedule of tuition and mandatory fees.

The board also will hear reports from the councils of university system presidents, faculty, staff, and students.
 
Members of the public who wish to comment during the public comment period of the meeting are asked to email their comments in advance of the meeting to the following email address: regents@usmd.edu.

The final item of the public session will be a vote on whether to reconvene in closed session to discuss items exempted from public consideration under the Open Meetings Act. Exempted items include naming requests by two institutions to name buildings after individuals; meetings with two presidents as part of their performance reviews; awarding of new contracts for dining services and a wired and wireless network refresh; information updates regarding specific personnel contracts; a pre-negotiation briefing regarding collective bargaining at a USM institution; and recommendations for the Regents Student Excellence Scholarships.
