Baltimore, Md. (Oct. 10, 2023) -- The University System of Maryland (USM) Board of Regents will hold its annual retreat, with an opening session at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 11. The retreat will take place at the College Park Marriott Hotel and Conference Center (General Vessey Ballroom) at the University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC).

At 7 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 12, the board will vote publicly on whether to reconvene in closed session to discuss an item exempted from public consideration under the Open Meetings Act. That item concerns specific campus safety issues, strategies, and planning. At 8 a.m., the board will reconvene in public session to discuss what it means to be a student-centered system, followed by sessions on public perception of the USM, the composition of the USM student body, and how to bolster the USM Strategic Plan: Vision 2030. It is anticipated the retreat will end at 1:45 p.m.
