USM Board of Regents Meets on Friday, Dec. 15

Baltimore, Md. (Dec. 14, 2023) – The University System of Maryland (USM) Board of Regents will meet at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 15.

The meeting will be held at the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) in the Southern Management Campus Center (Elm Ballroom).

Members of the public who wish to comment during the public comment period of the meeting are asked to email their comments in advance of the meeting to the following email address: regents@usmd.edu.

Maryland Gov. Wes Moore will deliver the Educational Forum to the board, speaking on issues of importance to higher education in the state.


The board will vote on several agenda items, including several new academic programs, upgrades to the mechanical infrastructure for Howard Hall at UMB, and a renovation of Robinson Hall at Bowie State University.

The final item of the public session will be a board vote on whether to reconvene in closed session to discuss items exempted from public consideration under the Open Meetings Act. These items include meetings with two presidents as part of their performance reviews; consideration of a new contract for a video board, hoist, and associated audio system; an update on status of collective bargaining at USM institutions; and an update on a presidential search at a USM institution.
