USM Board of Regents Meets on Friday, November 22

Baltimore, Md. (Nov. 20, 2024) – The University System of Maryland (USM) Board of Regents will meet at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 22. The board will convene at the Universities at Shady Grove, Building II-Ballroom.

The board will hear an education forum, “From Challenge to Change.” The presenters are University of Maryland, Baltimore School of Social Work Dean Judy Postmus and Associate Dean Neijma Celestine-Donnor.

Members of the public who wish to comment during the public comment period of the meeting are asked to email their comments in advance of the meeting to the following email address: regents@usmd.edu.

The board will vote on several action items, including the facilities master plan at the University of Baltimore and proposed amendments to exempt and non-exempt staff policies on annual leave, personal leave, holidays, and sick and safe leave. The board also will hear reports from the councils of university system presidents, faculty, staff, and students.

The agenda includes an information item regarding the Fall 2024 enrollment update and the fiscal year 2025 estimated FTE report.

The final item of the public session will be a vote on whether to reconvene in closed session to discuss items exempted from public consideration under the Open Meetings Act. Exempted items include meetings with two presidents as part of their performance reviews; an information update on investment performance; update on status of collective bargaining at USM institutions; an information update regarding specific personnel contracts; updates on two personnel matters concerning individual employees at USM institutions; and consideration of two naming requests from two USM institutions.
