Faculty Benefits, Student Fee Changes on Agenda for April 13th USM Board of Regents Meeting

ADELPHI, Md. (April 9, 2007) - The University System of Maryland (USM) Board of Regents will convene its spring public meeting on Friday, April 13, 2007, beginning at 8:30 a.m. It will be held in the Bernie Fowler Lab at the University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science (UMCES), Chesapeake Biological Laboratory, Solomons, MD.

In addition to conferring the 2006-2007 Regents' Faculty Awards, the board will consider the implementation of a new benefits plan for full-time, non-tenure track instructional faculty as well as room and board fees for the 2007-2008 academic year.

The meeting will also include information reports on:

  • Middle States Commission's Accreditations for Frostburg State University (FSU) and Salisbury University (SU);
  • Results of Periodic Reviews of Academic Programs;
  • FY 2006 External Funding;
  • USM Enrollment Projections for 2007-2016;
  • Campus Crime Statistics, 2005.

Among the action items before the board are:

 

  • Proposed Amendment to Nonexempt Staff Employees Salary Structure;
  • FY 2008 Out-of-State and Graduate Tuition Rates;
  • Increase Authorization for the Renovation of Hornbake & McKeldin Libraries at the University of Maryland, College Park (UMCP);
  • Food Service Contract Renewal for the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC).

The meeting will conclude with reports from the board's technology transfer workgroup, capital campaign workgroup, and HBCUs (historically black colleges and universities) and student success workgroup.
