Timothy A. Minor Named to Baltimore Sun’s ‘25 Black Marylanders to Watch’ List
ADELPHI, Maryland (Feb. 16, 2026) — The University System of Maryland (USM) and the USM Foundation (USMF) announced that Timothy A. Minor, president and CEO of the USM Foundation and USM vice chancellor for advancement, has been named to the Baltimore Sun’s 2026 “25 Black Marylanders to Watch” list.
Now in its fifth year, the outlet’s list celebrates Black leaders who are rising talents as well as established voices. Honorees were selected by editors and reporters from the newspaper who cover the communities and sectors these individuals influence.
Minor joined the USM and the USM Foundation in September 2025 following a distinguished career in higher education advancement, philanthropy, and strategic partnerships. His selection to this year’s list reflects his record of driving innovation, expanding opportunity, and forging collaborations that elevate institutions and communities.
“The incredible talent that won Tim this honor from the Baltimore Sun is exactly what we saw when we hired him last fall,” said USM Chancellor Jay A. Perman. “His drive to build and expand key partnerships has already made an impression. We’re lucky to have Tim leading our philanthropy at the USM, and the entire state is lucky to have him advancing public higher education in Maryland.”
Minor’s professional experience spans major public university systems, national nonprofits, and economic development leadership roles. Before joining the USM and USMF, he served as vice chancellor for strategic partnerships and economic development at North Carolina A&T State University, where he developed global industry alliances and expanded the university’s academic and research footprint.
With more than 30 years in higher education, Minor has been a lifelong champion of the transformative impact it has on individuals and communities. “I’m grateful to be named to the Baltimore Sun’s ‘25 Black Marylanders to Watch’ alongside so many distinguished leaders,” he said. “In my early months with the USM, I’ve met incredible people across Maryland whose work inspires me. I look forward to the year ahead and to further advancing our mission.”
