Board of Regents Meets Feb. 15 at University of Maryland University College
ADELPHI, Md. (February 11, 2008) - The University
System of Maryland (USM) Board of Regents will convene on Friday, February 15, 2008,
at 8:30 a.m. The public meeting will be held at the University of Maryland
University College (UMUC) Inn and Conference Center, Room 1123, 3501 University
Boulevard East, Adelphi, Maryland. The public
meeting will be followed by an executive session of the board at 11:30 a.m.
The meeting will open with reports from USM Chancellor William E.
Kirwan and from the councils of university system presidents, faculty, staff,
and students. Student Regent Richard Scott and the Maryland Student Climate
Coalition will also address the board.
Action items before the board include:
- Amendments
to the Board of Regents' Policy on Student Classification for Admission
and Tuition Purposes;
- New academic
programs in engineering at Frostburg State University and
environmental science and technology at University of Maryland, College
Park;
- Creation of
a board Policy on Debt Management;
- Trimester
pilot program at Towson University.
In addition, the board will receive reports from the Regents' audit and
institutional assessment committee, capital campaign work group, and campus
safety and security work group.
