University System of Maryland to Launch New Home Page July 1
ADELPHI, Md. (June
30, 2008) - The University
System of Maryland (USM) has redesigned its home page--www.usmd.edu--to enhance navigation and provide
easy-to-find links to the site's information resources and documents. The new
page and site will launch on Tuesday, July 1, 2008, marking the celebration of the system's 20th
anniversary.
The redesigned home page will
feature new rotating graphics highlighting significant initiatives and
accomplishments of the system. In addition, USM staff, media, and the public
will find links to the most frequently requested web pages in the new "Fast
Forward" section.
USM will routinely update the
rotating graphics and "Fast Forward" to direct visitors to "in-demand" web
pages and timely resources on the site, such as the University System of
Maryland Foundation (USMF); USM's reports and statistics; recent articles and
speeches by USM Chancellor William E. Kirwan; legislative updates during the
General Assembly; and progress reports tracking the system's accountability
initiatives. The home page will continue to feature prominent links to USM's 13
institutions as well as current news from around the system.
"The USM web site serves many
audiences-our staff and faculty, members of the press, public officials, and
in- and out-of-state students seeking information about our universities," said
Anne Moultrie, USM's associate vice chancellor of communications. "In addition,
we want the system's accomplishments and initiatives to be transparent to the
public. Our redesign balances these needs and makes information more readily-accessible
for our constituencies while communicating our multi-faceted mission more
clearly to the public."
July 1, 2008, marks the 20th anniversary of the creation of USM from the merger of
the five University of Maryland institutions and the six members of the State University and College System of Maryland. In the two decades
since its creation, USM has crossed significant milestones in its growth and
service while enhancing access, affordability, and excellence in public higher
education for the citizens of Maryland. Click here
