Board of Regents to Hold Special Meeting August 21 at USM Office
ADELPHI, Md. (August 20, 2008) - The University System of Maryland (USM) Board
of Regents will meet in public session on Thursday, August 21, 2008, to vote on
the appointment of Bob Chrencik as the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB)
vice president of the University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS).
The
meeting will be held via teleconference at 10:00
a.m. in the second floor conference room of the USM
Office, 3300 Metzerott Road, Adelphi, MD.
Chrencik, who currently serves as executive vice president and chief
financial officer of UMMS, was selected today by the Board of Directors of
UMMS to serve as its new interim chief executive officer. Under Maryland law, the
positions of UMMS CEO and UMB vice president of UMMS are a joint office
requiring the approval of both Boards.
For the benefit of members of the press unable to attend the meeting,
the proceedings will be taped for public record.
